2018 Yamaha Street Car MT-07 Review

The Yamaha MT-07 was first launched in 2013. With excellent power and easy handling, the global sales of more than 80,000 vehicles in the past few years have successfully become one of Yamaha's most successful models.

The 2018 MT-07 was released at the Milan show last year, and the new models were also upgraded in several locations. Let's take a look at how the fans evaluate it.

In appearance, the new MT-07 retains the rigid design of the previous line and boldly incorporates the design elements of the MT-09, making the original thinner body look thicker. The light group and the air intake on the front side of the fuel tank are reminiscent of the old MT-09.



In terms of power, the engine has not changed. It is still maintaining the previous 698cc displacement, the maximum horsepower is 74.8 horsepower, and the maximum torque is 68 Nm. Even in the same class, MT-07 still has excellent power data advantage.




The cushions have been slightly revised, and the new seat cushions allow knights of different heights to achieve excellent riding postures and feel more comfortable during long-distance rides.



In this change, in addition to the appearance change, the shock absorption system has also been improved, and the new shock absorption setting can greatly improve the sports performance of the MT-07.

In terms of the front and rear shock absorption strokes, it is 130mm with the 2017 model. After the adjustment, the front shock absorption has a better support effect, which makes the knight's feedback better when entering the corner. The rear shock absorption system incorporates a rebound-adjustable function that adjusts to riding habits and riding conditions for a more fun ride.



After the test drive, the new MT-07's front and rear pitches during acceleration and deceleration are significantly reduced, and the front fork can effectively suppress the degree of sinking when braking. In addition, the suspension of the new MT-07 has a strong absorption performance on the road bounce.

Which one is better for the old model and the new MT-07? Should be more stable with the new MT-07! The new MT-07 not only improves the rider's sense of unity while riding, but also suits the rider's riding.



The small change of the new MT-07 is the trend of future family design, which is very similar to the process of Honda's CB400SF becoming mature. The small change in 2018 may be an important turning point in establishing the MT-07 series as a classic car model in the future.
